- When will [that product you love] be restocked?
- Probably never. (WHAT?!) Part of PDL’s mission is to reduce waste in the fashion industry. To do that, we use leftover fabrics otherwise destined for the landfill to make all of our products. That means every single fabric you see on the site is limited edition. We make our classic shirts in different fabrics each and every time, and our other products – from car coats to trousers – change regularly too. If you love something, do not wait.
- How should I wash my [product]?
- One tricky thing about upcycled fabrics is that we don’t always know exactly what’s happened to each fabric before it becomes PDL. That means some of them are pre-shrunk, some are not, some are handwash only, etc. We recommend that you gently wash all your PDL products in cold water and hang them to dry. Flannels will almost always shrink if washed with hot water and don’t even get us started on what happens to them in the dryer. When in doubt, err on the side of caution!
- How will my [product] fit?
- Once you know your PDL size, you should be pretty good to go for any products with that same sizing scheme. There are sometimes exceptions to this, but we always include details in the product description. You can check out our fit guide for more details.
- Are your products vegan?
- Most of them are! We do use some fabrics with wool in them, but we state that in the product descriptions. We also occasionally have leather in some of our accessories.
- Can I model for PDL?
- We recruit models from our amazing community and shoot semi-regularly in our studio in East Vancouver. If you’re local to Vancouver and want to model, please fill out our application form to get added to the pool. No prior modeling experience necessary – we like authenticity and even awkwardness in our shots! We cast for diversity in every shoot. We are always looking for more models of colour and models in sizes 16 – 20 to best represent the diversity in our community.
- Do you pay your models?
- We pay professional models when we work with them. For folks who aren’t pro, we pay in free product. Our models always love the experience of “shopping” from unreleased shirts before anyone else has them!
